Das schwindende Interesse an Twitter und Blogs bedeutet jedoch nicht, dass die US-Amerikaner ihre Meinung nicht mehr im Internet preisgeben. Die Aktivität scheint sich lediglich in Richtung sozialer Netzwerke zu verschieben: stolze 86 Prozent aller Teenager, die auf Facebook und Co. aktiv sind, kommentieren dort auch die Aktivitäten ihrer Freunde. Beinahe jeder zweite Jugendliche kauft in den USA zudem Bücher, Musik oder Kleider online. Auch für den Konsum von Nachrichten wird das Internet genutzt: 62 Prozent aller US-Teenager informieren sich dort über das Weltgeschehen.
