Und bist du nicht willig, dann braucht er Gewalt. Peter Boudgoust, Intendant des Südwestrundfunks und ab 2009 Nachfolger des amtierenden ARD-Vorsitzenden Fritz Raff, äußerte sich schon jetzt zu einigen Plänen während seiner kommenden Amtszeit. Unter anderem auch zu seiner “Strategie” zur lang ersehnten Verjüngung des Senders. Wir sind gespannt.

Demnach erwägt Boudgoust eine Kooperation mit YouTube, um junges Publikum zu erreichen und für die ARD zu gewinnen. Einige Medien wie die ZEIT sprechen gar von einem Einstieg des Senders. Als Vorbild nannte er den eigenen YouTube-Kanal des ZDF, der bereits seit zwei Jahren online ist.

Boudgoust scheint sich noch nicht sonderlich mit dem Mediennutzungsverhalten von Jugendlichen beschäftigt zu haben, was ihn bedauerlicherweise zu einem legitimen Nachfolger Raffs qualifiziert. Was er verkennt ist, dass nicht das Medium YouTube an sich Jugendliche interessiert, sondern vielmehr einige darin befindliche Inhalte. Content is King. Das müsste sich inzwischen auch in den gebührenfinanzierten Chefetagen herumgesprochen haben.

Statt sich also zunächst weiter um jugendgerechte Sendungen zu bemühen, möchte Boudgoust seine bisher nachweislich verschmähten Formate durch eine Präsentation in einem moderneren Online-Umfeld zu mehr Zuspruch bei der Jugend führen. Was für eine Logik. Ein schlechtes Lied wird durch Digitalrundfunk auch nicht besser. Leider.

Während die TOP Clips auf YouToube nicht selten mehrere hunderttausend Zuschauer täglich auf sich ziehen, kann sich der “vorbildliche” ZDF Kanal ganzer 1.700 Abonnenten rühmen und befindet sich damit auf einem traurigen Platz 68 aller YouTube-Kanäle. Und das nach zwei Jahren Präsenz und Promotion. Ein kompletter Fehlschlag, für den so mancher Verantwortliche in einem Privatunternehmen hätte seinen Hut nehmen müssen.

Sollte ein “Einstieg” bei YouTube wirklich ernsthaft in Erwägung gezogen werden, gilt es sicher zu klären, ob ein so zweifelhafter Schritt überhaupt mit dem Rundfunkstaatsvertrag im Einklang stünde. Eine Verwendung von GEZ-Gebühren, um der ARD eine Beteiligung an YouTube zu ermöglichen, wäre wohl nur schwer mit dem Ursprung des Bildungs- und Informationsauftrages zu vereinbaren. Das gebietet zumindest der gesunde Menschenverstand.
Aber auf den ist auch kein Verlass mehr …
