Wie beeinflusst die globale Wirschaftkrise den internationalen Markt der Jugendreiseanbieter? Die WYSE Confederation (World Youth Student & Educational Travel Confederation) versucht auch im Mai den Einfluss der Finanzkrise auf das Marktsegment der internationalen Kinder-, Jugend- und Studienreiseanbieter darzustellen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen verhaltene Bedenken, geben jedoch auch Anlass zum Optimismus.  Eine – wenn auch nicht repräsentative – aber dennoch lesenswerte und informative Publikation.

Die Ergebisse des dritten “Youth Travel Industry Monitor” zeigen einen weiter andauernden Rückgang der Nachfrage bei rückläufigen Verkäufen im bereich von 2,5 Prozent in März und April 2009 verglichen mit dem Vorjahreszeitraum. Retail Travel und Sprachreiseveranstalter verzeichneten den größten Nachfragerückgang, während Au Pair- sowie Work-and-Travel Organisationen sogar steigende Zahlen melden.

Asien und Südamerika melden zweistellige Einbrüche, während die Nachfrage in Australien und Afrika steigt. Die Verfügbarkeit von Material und Dienstleistungen erholten sich in den vergangenen zwei Monaten zwar spürbar, jedoch werden die generellen Produktionskosten als weiterhin steigend eingestuft.

Als größte Konjunkturbremse wird die allgemeine Unsicherheit und Zurückhaltung der Konsumenten genannt, die inzwischen mehr als 90 Prozent der Branche erfasst hat. Entgegen den gängigen Prognosen rechnen die Jugendreiseanbieter jedoch schon Anfang 2010 mit einer spürbaren Erholung der Konjunktur.
