Die neue EU-Fernsehrichtlinie, die über den neuen Rundfunkänderungsstaatsvertrag im März 2010 in Kraft treten soll, billigt werbefinanzierten Sendern wie Super RTL, Kika oder Nick eigentlich mehr Freiheiten zu. Hiernach dürften Sendungen mit einer Länge von mehr als 30 Minuten auch im Kinderprogramm halbstündlich von Werbung unterbrochen werden. Der Rundfunkkommission geht das jedoch zu weit. Der Schutz der Kinder habe Vorrang, hieß es aus der Staatskanzlei in Mainz.
Die TV Werbeindustrie zeigte sich von der Entwicklung enttäuscht. “Regulativer Übereifer wirkt oftmals kontraproduktiv. Durch das Verbot, Spielfilme für Kinder durch Werbung zu unterbrechen, ist deren Ausstrahlung in der Daytime kaum zu refinanzieren”, so Super-RTL-Chef Claude Schmit.
