Sprecher des Social Networks Facebook haben englischen Journalisten unlängst brandaktuelle Zahlen genannt. Demnach umfasst das globale Netzwerk inzwischen 350 Millionen aktive Nutzer. Noch vor etwas mehr als einem Jahr betrug diese Zahl laut Unternehmensangaben 80 Millionen. Dies entspricht einem Wachstum von 437 Prozent seit August 2008. Imposant. Ähnlich verhalten sich die folgenden Kennzahlen.

Laut Angaben des Unternehmens generieren derzeit weltweit 350 Millionen Nutzer 200 Milliarden Seitenzugriffe pro Monat, was in etwa 20 Seiten pro Tag und Nutzer entspricht. Jeden Tag werden 1,6 Milliarden Nachrichten versendet. Zudem laden die Facebook-Nutzer jeden Monat 2,5 Milliarden Fotos hoch – also rund 1.000 Fotos pro Sekunde!

Trevor Johnson, Facebook’s Head of Strategy and Planning, machte gegenüber TechRadar zudem auf die große Bedeutung der mehr als 90.000 Applications bei Facebook aufmerksam. So habe allein die Application FarmVille inzwischen mehr als 69 Millionen aktive Nutzer. Dies sei weit mehr, als der gesamte Dienst Twitter weltweit habe, so Johnson.
