Das mobile Internet ist auf der Überholspur: Bereits innerhalb von drei Jahren sollen webfähige Handys den PC beim Internetzugang den Rang ablaufen, prognostizieren Experten. “Bald wird jeder rund um die Uhr online sein”, sagt Daniel Ott, Sprecher der Initiative D21. Schon 2013 soll die Anzahl der internetfähigen Mobiltelefone die der Computer übersteigen.

“Das Potenzial, welches das Internet ohnehin bietet, wollen immer mehr Menschen nutzen”, betont Ott. Das mobile Internet biete diese Vorteile rund um die Uhr und zu jeder Gelegenheit. Daher sei es eine logische technologische Entwicklung, dass es sich immer weiter verbreite. Die Zahl der PCs werde in den kommenden drei Jahren weltweit auf 1,78 Milliarden Stück zunehmen. Webfähige Mobiltelefone und Smartphones übertrumpfen die Computer bis 2013 jedoch mit 1,82 Milliarden Einheiten. Dem Meinungsforschungsinstitut Gartner zufolge wird die rasant ansteigende mobile Internet-Nutzung einen wesentlichen Wandel in der Online-Welt einläuten. In den kommenden Jahren würden so immer mehr Webseiten  für Smartphones und Handys optimiert.
